After moving to Bluffton, SC I had long hours of loneliness to fill. One evening I picked up the one paintbrush I owned, pulled out the 20 year old craft acrylic paints I had, and used the only surface I could find to paint on – a paper grocery bag from Publix.

What is in a name?

I love sharing the story of my name. Konner doesn’t belong to my father or ex-husband – it is my name by design. After my divorce, I needed a new last name. My maiden name Kirk, is Scottish for “church” but belongs to a father who chose not to raise his daughter (the irony is I got my artistic talent from him).

A former coworker researched and discovered that Conner is Scottish for “dog lover”, the modern version of “wolf lover”. I turned the ‘C’ in Conner to ‘K’ because I like alliteration. Since launching Fetching Dogwear in 2009, I’ve been in the industry of spoiling dogs for a decade.
